Painting Daffodils

In Reception we noticed that the daffodils we had planted in the autumn had started to shoot up. We took a closer look at the different parts and talked about the shapes we could see. The children described the stem as long and narrow and the trumpet in the centre looked liked a frilly circle. They counted the petals and talked about the shape being curved and pointy. Using a pencil the children then drew out the shape of the daffodil and then using the powder paints carefully mixed colours to match the colours of the daffodil. We definitely think were have some budding artists in our class this year!
