Poetry

This half term we are studying the narrative poem ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’ in our reading lessons. The poem is written in Old-English, and we are enjoying exploring new and unfamiliar vocabulary in the context of the poem. It is quite difficult in parts but I just remind the children about this quote from Roald Dahl’s Matilda:
“And don’t worry about the bits you can’t understand. Sit back and allow the words to wash around you, like music.”
