What a great half term

Our favourite lessons this half term have been Reading – we have been reading Mr Penguin and the lost treasure.  Children became detectives as they deciphered the meanings of words and phrases in context and made inferences from the clues presented.  There were opportunities for children to practice retrieval, summarising, comparing and sequencing throughout, as well as collaboration and role play as they worked  together to solve the mystery of the lost treasure. I have never seen the class so excited about reading lessons before and they couldn’t wait to find out what happened next!
