Earth Day VR experience

We’ve had another brilliant week in Year 6!
On Wednesday, we celebrated Earth Day where we got to take part in a VR experience. The headsets took us on an adventure around the globe to understand the impact of global warming and make us think how we can look after our planet.
In English, we have been exploring our new text ‘Rain Player’. We have looked at how dialogue is used to advance action and convey character and then we’ve used this learning to write our own dialogue to add to a missing chapter of the story. Our text also links to our History unit of The Maya. This week, we spent time exploring different sources to decide whether we think that The Maya were an advanced civilisation or not.
We have also been swimming this week. It has been great to see how the children are gaining confidence and enjoying being in the water. Our other PE lesson saw us practising our standing long jump skills. We also had a chance to practise our measuring skills as we recorded which child could jump the furthest.
